Holiday Hams and Turkeys
Greg Hutchins of Heritage Farm will be delivering pre-ordered Hams and Turkeys on Tuesday, November 24th at our Thanksgiving Week Market Pickup. Greg is sending me a list of the weights and balance due for orders and I will email folks as soon as I have that information. Even if you do not order other items, you will need to pickup your Ham and/or Turkey order during regular Market pickup hours. If you have any questions, please contact me at 404-432-4337.
Sarah, Bethe, Kathy (The Market Coordinators) and I recognize that we are truly blessed to have the wonderful group of Farmers, Producers and Artisans who are passionate about bringing us quality, nutrient-dense, fresh and local food! They are “the best of the best”! We are grateful for their dedication, passion and support of Heirloom Living Market.
Please know that we are grateful to you, our Members, for your unfailing support of our efforts to make the Market a community resource for nutrient-dense, clean fresh and local food! Your encouragement, suggestions, recommendations to others and your friendship have blessed my life and I am appreciative.
personal reflections
I have had time these last few days to reflect on memories of past Thanksgivings shared with family and friends. Whether I was cooking in my own kitchen, helping in another or a guest in someone’s home, the happiness that I have felt for the love that is shared on this special holiday still fills my heart with joy!
It isn’t about a “perfect meal” – it can be the simplest of fare or a huge feast. It isn’t about pulling out the silver and the best china or the lace tablecloth. It isn’t about show. It is about gratitude! Expressing our heartfelt thanks to another warms their heart and ours.
I give thanks to God for my many blessings and even for the “I’m-not-so-sure-this-is-a-blessing” situations and especially the hardships, losses, issues that I face that are less than pleasant. I am truly grateful for all of the joys and sorrows that became my life. They are part of me and have shaped the person that I am today. I am grateful to Him for His faithfulness and love; that I awaken each day to see the beautiful sunrise; grateful at the end of the day as the sky is painted at sunset and grateful for all of the moments in between. He blesses me each and every moment – through His hand and the lives of each person I encounter and I am humbled and grateful to be touched!
Please, take a moment and reflect on the many blessings you have in your life. Live ‘in the moment’ and become ‘aware’! Take the time to say: “Thank you!” I promise, it will bring joy to your heart!
Black Lab Update Although I miss him greatly, Dudley is enjoying his time with my brother Michael and his wife Karen and their Brittany Spaniel, Doyle! He has a fenced yard to play in and Michael has access to several hundred acres of woods and pastures which they visit everyday! The Black Lab runs and runs and recently has chased a Buck and a Coyote, much to Michael’s consternation and dismay. The Black Lab, who Michael assures me is more “hound” than Lab does come when he is called, so Michael feels comfortable in allowing him to run! Dudley has bonded well with Karen, Michael and Doyle and I am thankful that they offered to care for him until I am in a better living situation! My only fear is that they will become so attached it will be painful for them to let him come home. (Sigh…we will cross that bridge when we get to it!) In the meantime, he is well-loved and we are both blessed by Karen and Michael’s willingness to care for him until I can bring him home.
Please take a moment to read the news then hop on over to your Market and get that shopping done! Market closes tonight at 10:00pm! We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday! Order now since you are just a click away!

If you are going to be a guest this Thanksgiving, Kathy Barnes of So-Koi creates Retro Aprons in several different patterns, which would make an awesome Hostess Gift. She also has her Produce Bags which work wonderfully well helping to preserve your produce items in the fridge. Kathy is a special, talented lady, dedicated to offering us handmade-with-love treasures! Buying from local Artisans, whom you have the opportunity to meet and get to know, I think is special! Buying local also helps grow the economy.
Take Note
Shalley and David Carrell of Carrell Farms have listed Lamb on the Market. I am using the Alpaca Cranberry and Sage Sausage in my stuffing this year! Be sure and check out their offerings!
Greg Hutchins of Heritage Farm has also listed Lamb! Check it out!
Lamb is rather a ‘seasonal’ meat as Farmers usually process in the late Fall and then again in Spring! So, if you are interested in having Lamb over the Winter, now is the perfect time to purchase!
Dabrielle and Bruce of My Daily Bread will be taking a short vacation next week and will not be at Market! Be sure and purchase extras this week and freeze to hold you over until the following week! Dabrielle promises that there will be a few surprises on the Farmers Sales Table this week at our Markets! Hosting a Thanksgiving celebration or attending as a guest? Consider the Pecan Cheese Log as your appetizer or as a Hostess Gift! Yeast Rolls, Pumpkin Bread, Sourdough Bread, Spelt Pumpkin Muffins – there is a plethora of items from which to chooses!
Vicky and Steve of Fry Farm are not on the Market this week and will return next week if Mother Nature favors the crops and they don’t freeze!
